Thanks to @myrobpattinson for posting this video of Kiowa Gordon (Embry Call) and Cameron Bright (Alec), who also visited the New Moon Premiere Line last night. I’m sure those people camping aren’t regretting spending the time there
We brought you Vanity Fair’s interviews with Alex Meraz and Kiowa Gordon, now we have the interview with Chaske Spencer, who plays Sam Uley in Twilight: New Moon.
How did you get the part of Wolf Pack leader, Sam Uley?
It was one of the weirdest auditions I’ve done. We put it on tape, and usually the process is: you meet the casting director, get a callback, then you meet the producer and director. This just went straight from tape. I auditioned for all of the parts of the Wolf Pack; they called me back and told me what part I had. Also, I didn’t really know who [the character] was because I didn’t know much about Twilight. Then I figured it out and said, “Wow, that’s a really good part.” It’s amazing. I’ve never gotten a part like that before.
Once you got the part, did you go back and read the books?
Yeah, I started with New Moon. Then I started dabbling in Eclipse because there’s a lot of back-story to my character. I really tried to relate to those characters, do my job … and then go to the gym.
How much time did you have between finding out you got the role and actually starting shooting?
Not much—about three weeks. They got us a trainer and really started throwing us into the work, into working out, which was with a gentleman who helped out on 300. I was pretty psyched about that; it was really tough. I was [already] in shape, but when he got his hands on me, it was a whole different beast altogether. I put on 25 pounds in those two months. It just happened—one day, I stepped out of the shower, took a look at myself, and I didn’t recognize my own body.
You all went through this together as a pack, too.
Yeah, that was the one thing that was really cool; it did bond us. We’re unknowns, and we couldn’t tell anyone for a month that we were cast. So we just talked to each other, made sure we kept each other in check, got competitive with one another. It was like [we were] brothers. I gained so many family members through this, which I’m really grateful for.
So you were this unknown actor living in New York who suddenly found himself on the set of this huge studio blockbuster. What was that like?
It’s so surreal, I mean, I’m feeling it right now! On the film sets of New Moon andEclipse, I feel safe. It’s like you’re in the center of the hurricane, but outside is where it starts to get chaotic. I would say that, in the last few days, I started noticing that I’m in this huge franchise. I’m going to be in one of the biggest movies of the year, and it’s a little surreal, frightening, and exciting all together. It’s like one big roller-coaster ride.
What are you doing to prepare for it?
No one can give you a book on how to deal with it. There’s not much you can do about it except for just having a good head on your shoulders. You have to go on your own and figure it out.
Like many of the other wolves, you have your own Twitter page, too.
It’s really cool. It’s like being in this rock band. It’s nothing like I’ve ever done before on any film or play—you really interact with the fans. I Twitter for theTwilight fans. I can write where I’m going, what I’m doing—I try to keep it general so I don’t give too much away—and the fans are great! They’re really excited about it; some even know more about me than I do myself!
Speaking of rock bands, Kiowa [Gordon] said you got him listening to Phoenix and Grizzly Bear.
Kiowa and Tyson Houseman are really into music, and we talk about that. I’m really into discovering new music. I’m a drummer, and I live with a musician—he’s in a band called The 5 O’Clock Heroes. I’m not just plugging him because he’s my roommate; his band is really good. He introduces me to all of the cool new bands, and we’ve had musicians coming over to our apartment for a while now. I like this new cat, Liam Finn, who I heard about in Australia. I also just got theNew Moon soundtrack, and I’m really impressed! I think it’s amazing. I’ve been listening to it all day actually. I like Band of Skulls, and I’ve been a fan of Black Rebel Motorcycle Club for years now. This is going to be my album for the month.
As we promised yesterday, today we bring you the Vanity Fair interview with Kiowa Gordon, who plays Embry Call in the upcoming New Moon and Eclipse movies. Unlike his cast mates, Kiowa had never acted before this movie.
New Moon is your first film. What was the casting process like?
They had an open casting call here in Phoenix, and I auditioned. I was going to
church with my mom out in Cave Creek, and Stephenie Meyer goes to church with her. She kind of helped me out on that one.Did Stephenie suggest you?
Yes, she told production, I think, and got me some sides to do the audition.
So you never acted before this?
No.
Did you want to be an actor?
Definitely.
Did you know anyone in the cast before you started?
No, I just met Alex [Meraz] at the auditions.
How did the wolves come together as a pack?
They got us a personal trainer, and we just went to the workouts and got to know each other. We saw each other’s strengths and pushed each other’s buttons; we really bonded during that time. We’d go out to eat a lot and watch movies …
Which movies?
Anything that we agreed upon! We all like Inglourious Basterds. That was really good.
How would you all get revved up before a scene?
We just took off our robes, put our game faces on, and did what we do best.
So you spent a fair amount of time being topless.
Yeeeeep! It was really freezing when we first got to Vancouver.
What was your favorite scene to shoot?
I call it the “muffin scene.” It’s right after Bella finds out we’re all werewolves, and we take her to Emily’s house while Jacob, Paul, and Sam are off in the woods taking care of some wolf business.
And you eat muffins.
Yeah. A lot.
What kind?
Some weird bran muffins. They didn’t taste so good!
What do you do on set when you have downtime?
I sit and think about what we’re doing that day, think about the scene. I listen to music and try to focus.
What kind of music are you into these days?
This band that Chaske got me into called Phoenix. And also Grizzly Bear.
Did anyone on set take you under their wing or give you any good advice?
Just the Wolf Pack. We all helped each other along and gave each other advice.
Has anyone tried to prepare for what’s coming once the film is out?
They’re trying! They keep telling me that it’s going to be a lot crazier than what I’ve seen. They keep telling me that I can’t go outside of my house. I just think it’s nonsense.
Are people recognizing you already in Arizona?
Sometimes, yeah. They just look away and start laughing and whispering to their friends, but I know what they talk about because I can overhear.
Have you seen the finished film yet?
No. I saw the rough cut with Stephenie a couple of months ago. It was really good. I’m sure it’ll be 100 times better when it comes out.
What’s it been like filming the third installment, Eclipse?
It was a lot more fun being with the guys this time around. We already knew each other, had new stuff to talk about, a new director, and we actually had some scenes with the Cullens [the saga’s main vampire clan].
Do you have any other projects lined up?
In May, I’m going to be filming this new movie called Into the Darkness. It’s a horror thriller.
So, what do you want to say to the fans who are afraid to approach you? The giggling ones.
It’s fine for them to approach me. I’m not going to bite!
Give me one word to describe each actor: Taylor Lautner [“Jacob Black”].
Innocent.
Bronson Pelletier [“Jared”].
[Laughs] Jokester!
Tyson Houseman [“Quil Ateara”].
Smart.
Kristen Stewart [“Bella Swan”].
Edgy.
Gil Birmingham [“Billy Black”].
Papa!
Chaske Spencer [“Sam Uley”].
Leader.

Thanks to Confessions of a twicrack addict here are the latest New moon wolf pack posters… Enjoy
Here is the first official picture of New Moon’s wolf pack looking ready for action. Check out their tatoos; if you managed to find Jacobs one in “Alex Meraz smells the roses” you will notice they are the same. I think it is standard for the members of the wolf pack in New Moon. Haven’t seen anything about it in the book (unless my memory fails me
) but they look quite good.

On MTV.com (where I found the pic), it says that the four wolves we see are: Chaske Spencer, Alex Meraz, Kiowa Gordon and Bronson Pelletier (Sam Uley, Paul, Embry and Jared respectively) but I am not convinced… I can see Alex Meraz (on the far left) Chaske Spencer in the front, pretty sure Kiowa Gordon is in there but I don’t see Bronson Pelletier (maybe it’s just me). It could be Tyson Houseman because two of the wolves are left out-Jacob and according to MTV it has to be Quil. The wolf in question is the one right at the back -it probably is Pelletier but let me know if you agree with the actors named in the picture because I am unsure…
So it is official according to Lainey gossip: the wolves are cast, there are two members that still need to be confirmed but here is the list with pics so you can see who’s who.
