New Moon Smashes Records

New Moon has just shattered records all over the movie industry this week, from pre-ticket sales to weekend earnings etc they are prominent in the top 5 on most standing records. The first record broken was for New Moon’s  midnight release, Summit Entertainment released that New Moon had the biggest midnight opening of all time ranking in $26.27 million!!

New Moon was shown on 4024 screens and is number 3 in the all time box office opening weekend behind Dark Knight and Spiderman3.

Summit have said that over New Moon’s opening weekend and Monday it has grossed an unbelievable $153.6 million.

According to Hitfix the total earnings for the film as of Wednesday of opening week are totaled at $179 million. Last year Twilight peaked at $192 million so New Moon looks set to annihilate that total at the rate it is going

Australia – $14.78M

Brazil – $7.86M

France – $18.9M

Italy – $15.3M

Mexico – $7.7M

Russia – $9M

Spain – $15M

UK – $19.5M

I find it incredible that in a time of economic crisis for so many there is so much money just pouring into the film industry. but for R50 I am happy to get lost in the wonderful world of Twilight for 2 hours and ten minutes
