Hi guys, As I’m sure most of you noticed; Twilightseries.co.za has been down for close on a week.
The problems started last weekend with database connection problems origination from the hosts at the time. We tried to resolve this issue through their customer support but didn’t get anywhere with this. After numerous emails back and forth trying to get this resolved, we decided to move the site on to a dedicated server.
Once the move to the dedicated server was complete, we then started the task of having the domain updated to reflect these changes. After a whole week of fighting with our domain registration agent trying to get the update done, we eventually contacted the previous hosts and got them to update their DNS records.
So that’s where we are now. The site is now hosted on a beast of a server which will improve your experience with the site and hopefully limit anything like this from happening again.
We are aware of a few niggly things that may not be working right now, and are trying our best to get the site back to its previous state. If you do notice anything strange, please let us know so that we can get it fixed.
Ah the moment we have all been waiting for!!
Finally, we get to see the promised New Moon scenes from Comic-con I will admit they are not of brilliant clarity and quality as the clips were filmed by one of the fans who attended Comic-con (And thank you to inuyashasfanaticlove who filmed the clip and c8lin308 who put them up on youtube) when better clips are available I will post them but rather these than none
Clip one is for ‘Team Jacob’ and shows the scene where Jacob teaches Bella how to ride her motorbike, the scene is a little bit different from the book but should not disappoint especially if you are a fan of Jacobs new torso -I’m not sure if it is a result of the ‘video of a video’ but the background in this scene looks a bit fake and is somewhat a let down -hopefully with an HD version it will look a little more real. Let me know what you think of this scene.
Naturally, the second scene is for ‘Team Edward’, we are transported to Italy with Alice and Bella where Edward threatens to expose the Volturi by baring some skin… unaware that Bella is racing against the clock to save him. This scene is really colourful and will probably be at its best, visually, when we get to watch the full movie as it is a little dark in this clip -however, it has a pretty intense ending as Bella makes her way through the crowds of townsfolk (played by real Twilight fans). It ends just in time to leave a little bit of suspense for the movie. -And what a movie it will be!
Which is your favourite scene? and do you think the movie will be all we expect based on what you have seen?
I can’t help myself, I am so excited and while this makes all the past months of waiting easier to bear it is going to make the next few absolute torture!
Bring it on
As you are all aware, we are a fan site dedicated to the Twilightseries Thus it only makes sense that we are SUPER excited for the release of the second installment: New Moon.
New Moon is scheduled for release by both Nu Metro and Ster Kinekor on Friday the 27th of November. There is however a small chance that the film will be released on Wednesday 25th but at the moment this is nothing more than speculation.
What we would like to do as a site is organise a group viewing (this began as a sneak peak but we seem doubtful that that will happen at this stage) for any and all Twilight Fans
The thought of sitting in a movie house with members of the site and fans of the series really excites me! We have such a broad array of people who frequent the site and I just know if we were able to view the film together, the experience would only be enhanced by the conversation afterwards!
I am hoping to possibly take pictures and videos of the evening to post on the site, we could even do video reviews with the people who feel up to it or if you like you can send in written reviews afterwards, we made this site for you, the fans, so we like the idea of you being involved if you would like to be
So far it looks like the viewing will be in JHB, we are looking at some of the bigger movie houses and are just hoping to book out the theatre when seats become available, we can go for coffee afterwards to discuss the film.
If you like the idea and would like to organise a similar viewing in your area, feel free and send in pictures etc if you would like them published on the site
There is a running discussion in the forums section where you can have your say on how and where this should happen if you are interested in participating. Look forward to hearing from you
A while ago we made a post about the New Moon website. At the time it was a couple of images and a widget that you could embed in your website. http://www.newmoonthemovie.com/ is now a fully fledged theatrical website with more goodies and more info!
In The Twilight Saga: New Moon, Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) is devastated by the abrupt departure of her vampire love, Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) but her spirit is rekindled by her growing friendship with the irresistible Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner). Suddenly she finds herself drawn into the world of the werewolves, ancestral enemies of the vampires, and finds her loyalties tested.
I’ve played around on it a little bit, and must say it’s quite complete. Also, bear in mind that some parts of it such as the mobile section and World of Twilight section are still “coming soon”. It’s quite a bandwidth hog seeing as it is entirely in flash, but it’s quick enough that you don’t mind waiting.
The only thing that I am not too sure of, is they don’t make it possible for you to get the images in the media section. Normally on a site you could right click and save/view the image, but because it’s in flash, we don’t really have that option.
Yet another thing we might not get but it’s exciting none the less – Twilight Scene It Game
Scene It? Twilight Deluxe Edition features hundreds of clips, trivia questions, and on-screen puzzlers from the Twilight movie phenomenon! Experience customized mini-games and bonus activities that will challenge your observation, memory and puzzle solving skills that are unique to Scene It? Twilight. This game will quench players’ thirsts for more Bella, Edward, Jacob and the gang while reliving favorite Twilight moments again and again! Game includes game DVD, 4x collectible metal tokens, 100x trivia cards, 30x fate cards, 1x 6-sided die, 1x 8-sided die, and instruction sheet.
This whole “not getting things in South Africa” issue is really starting to get to me. We already had quite an intense discussion in the Twilight Goodies post. I guess we can hope that it makes its way to at least one of our local online retailers.
As with any other successful franchise, you get those who love it and those who hate it. It’s always been the case and it’s doubtful this will ever change as long as people are allowed to have their own opinion. Personally I have not read the Twilight books, but I have seen the movie a couple times and didn’t hate it.
I say didn’t hate it because it didn’t make me want to go out and immediately buy all the books and read them 30 times in a week. You might have.
Twilight puts itself in a position to be ripped apart endlessly. It won big at the MTV movie awards earlier this year beating fellow nominees The Dark Knight, Slumdog Millionaire and Iron Man to name a few. I won’t be the first person to say some of these were shockers, but the MTV movie awards are decided by fans, MTV generation fans and Twilight has plenty of those. It’s seen as a soppy love story with no real purpose and a very basic story line. This description loosely applies to any movie that you don’t like though and is mostly given by critics of the series.
Stephen King came out and said that he thinks Stephenie Meyer can’t write.
Both Rowling and Meyer, they’re speaking directly to young people… The real difference is that Jo Rowling is a terrific writer and Stephenie Meyer can’t write worth a darn. She’s not very good
Again, the opinion of a critic which can be countered by many opinions of fans who have read the books numerous times and found subtle hints across the 4 books about what will happen and what has happened previously. Danielle tells me she finds something new every time she reads it and is only able to do so because she has read it so many times. This fuels the argument toward the fan’s side and how she is in fact a good writer.
I am writing this as a neutral, not a manic fan and not a ravenous critic. As a neutral I am given the unique ability to pick the convenient side of an argument. I can side with the critics if I believe them to be true or visa-versa. I am going to assume most of you guys on this site are completely obsessed, judging by comments over the past couple of months I am willing to say this is a safe assumption to make.
This is where the fun part comes in, as a neutral I can say that the following images and articles are funny and completely ridiculous in some cases. I want to hear from you guys, the devout Twihards what you think of these kinds of things. Does it irritate you that people who don’t like it spend so much time working on how bad they think it is instead of just moving on. Or do you think any publicity is good publicity?
The articles tend to be more fleshy. More people can write than draw a cartoon, so this is how more people vent. Cracked.com have an entire section dedicated to Twilight where they look at it from their slanted view on just about everything. They’ve also taken it upon themselves to rewrite the script. I think these have more power than the images above to stir emotion in a dedicated fan. A website even exists specifically to talk about how Twilight sucks, although most of the site just 404′s their forum seems quite active.
South Park has even parodied Twilight. But then again, what haven’t they taken on? Most people would go so far as to say being featured on South Park in either a good or bad way is a sign of success. I watched this episode a while back and didn’t even notice that it was taking a stab at the series, I only put the connection together when I came across the article.
Another sensitive topic to Twilight fans is Buffy. It would appear there is some sort of correlation between the fan bases of the two. Enter Buffy vs. Edward
I’ve been forced through the entire collection of Buffy (Yes, all 7 seasons, all 154 episodes, all 6160 minutes) and had a chuckle at this video. Like the images, this kind of thing is harmless in my opinion.
What do you as a fan think about the negative ranting? And if you’ve seen this happen with other movies you loved and others didn’t, please share with us!
Just wanted to share some of the nicest pics from the set of New Moon. The pics are studio released which you can see from the high quality of the photos. More exciting than the actual images is that we can see which scenes will definitely be in the movie, some pictures are stills from the trailer; others -new scenes from the film. Lookout for the never before seen footage from the upcoming comicon Will be posting it as soon as it comes available
